Welcome to our Cosmic Spectral Museum. In this Museum you can see the colorful universe through optical wavelengths. Let's enjoy the dynamic, active, revolving Universe.

Unfortunately, almost all the pages, except for this page are written in Japanese only. We hope, however, you can enjoy many images included.

=== Museum Policy ===

Optical astronomy is one of the most exciting field in the modern astronomy, as well as in the classical and traditional one. We thus produced a multimedia software, dedicated for astronomical education, in order to introduce this field; our attention is focused on optical (visual) and its spectrum in the universe.

In this software, we show the basic concept of the optical world, optics, and spectrum, give various spectra in the laboratory and those seen in our daylife. We collect spectral images of various astronomical objects, including the solar system objects, stars, nebulae, clusters, galaxies, quasars, and cosmic background.

In order to demonstrate their physical properties, we use several movies and animations. This software is documented using the HTML.

We hope that this software is useful for students, teachers, amateurs, and researchers, who are interested in astronomy and astrophysics.

=== Quick Start-up ===

Insert the Cosmic Spectral Museum CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM drive. Double click on the top.htm document to open it.

Recommended environment is as follows.

CPU:      PentiumTM 133MHz or higher (for Windows)
          PowerPC or higher (for Macintosh)
Basic OS: Windows 95/98, MacOS7.6.1
Browser:  Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher

- Almost all the files of this software
